Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have confirmed that their forward, Vitinha, has suffered a knee injury in training.
The Brazilian international sustained the injury during a session on Tuesday and is expected to be out for several weeks.
It comes as a blow for PSG, who were already struggling with injuries before the latest setback.
The news will also come as a disappointment for Vitinha himself, who has been in good form this season.
He has scored three goals and provided two assists in all competitions so far this campaign.
Despite the setback, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino remains optimistic about the team's chances of success this season.
"We have players like Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, and I am confident we can win the league," he said.
"But it's always difficult when you lose key players."
Pochettino added: "We have to keep working hard and hope for the best." The club have also announced that they will provide medical support to Vitinha throughout his recovery.
They will work closely with his doctors to ensure he receives the best possible treatment and rehabilitation.
In the meantime, PSG will look to fill the void left by Vitinha's absence.
However, it remains to be seen whether the team can overcome the loss of such a talented player.
Regardless, it is clear that Vitinha's injury will be a major concern for PSG going forward.
As the team looks to navigate the rest of the season without him, they will need to rely on their other attacking options to score goals and help them secure top spot in the standings.
