Moussa Dembélé, the French forward who joined Damac from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2019, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
The 25-year-old suffered the setback during the first leg of their Champions League tie against Chelsea last month, and his absence is likely to be a blow to Damac's chances of reaching the knockout stages of Europe's premier club competition.
Dembélé made his debut for the Tunisian side in November 2018 and has since become one of their most important players. He scored six goals in 14 appearances across all competitions this season before being injured.
Despite his setback, Damac have expressed confidence that he will recover fully and return to action soon. The team is currently fourth in Group G of the Champions League, just two points behind leaders Manchester City and four points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid.
Injury updates on other players are also ongoing. Damac's head coach, Hakan Soljašić, said: "We're going to miss Moussa for the rest of the season, but we're confident that he'll make a full recovery."
Dembélé was replaced by fellow forward Adil Rami during his absence and will be hoping to make a comeback as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the rest of the team will continue to work hard to secure their place in the competition.
Overall, it looks like Moussa Dembélé's absence could be a significant blow for Damac, but they remain optimistic about their chances of progressing in the Champions League.
